Tenth & Gibson Mural

Bowden, South Australia | 2017

This mural commissioned by Tenth & Gibson, a creative photographic studio and venue in the heart of Bowden, was developed in close collaboration with the team to reflect the area’s evolving urban identity. The work responds to the energy of contemporary city life while paying homage to the site’s industrial past.

Composed of layered geometric angles, the mural draws direct reference from architectural forms and industrial spaces; the trusses, beams, and intersecting planes found in warehouse construction. These sharp-edged shapes mirror the structural rhythm of factories and fabrication sites, reimagined through a contemporary, abstract lens.

The palette of olive green, concrete grey, mustard, black, and soft blue speaks to both nature and industry, recalling metal, stone, sun-faded signage, and building materials found in Bowden’s historic precinct. The fractured, energetic composition also nods to the visual language of graffiti and glitch aesthetics, merging the analog grit of the past with the digital complexity of the present.

Rooted in geometric abstraction, the mural occupies a space between Constructivist architecture and urban expressionism. Rather than telling a single story, it creates a textured, energetic backdrop that invites interaction and reimagining. Like Bowden itself, it reflects layers of history, invention, and reinvention.
